Does anyone know if seattle is hiring this year? It's kinda my dream department. But I haven't seen or heard anything.

I just received an email from their automated recruitment office and here is what it said...

After careful examination of our projected hiring needs, we will not open an entry level Firefighter application period in 2009 for testing in 2010.

Hopefully more departments will start testing. Good luck to you!

No, I'm in Minnesota. Seattle is my dream dept. though so I was out there for the last test.

That doesn't really matter as far as hiring. You have to already be on the job to get into the Medic program.

    Default Seattle Fire Dept

I was told that 185 applicants were left in the process before I took my Phsychological evaluation at the training center. My references were contacted and shortly after is when the city decided to pospone the process until early 2010. Is anyone else going through the current process that started with a written in Jan. 2008?

Seattle sends their Medic students through the HMC program, but again, they come from the line. If the city says they aren't hiring in the near future, then that's that.
