James M. "Marty" Hall
I was conducting our annual Water Rescue Train-the-Trainer Academy in New Hampshire this past weekend and had two Canton Firefighters participating in this Academy. When they received news of Marty Hall's death, they were devastated by the news. Marty was a colleague and friend to them and I'm sure it bothered them to have to continue on with the training, rather than to return home immediately.
Our condolences go out to Marty Hall's family as well as to all the firefighters in the Canton Fire Department.

Although I never had the opportunity to meet Marty, I've heard nothing but wonderful and heart-wrenching stories of this fine firefighter, husband, father, mentor, and friend. He was indeed a great example of what all of those figures should be. He was always there for you, and although your boss.. I was told he seemed to be just a part of the team. A great father, always at his daughters games. Even saved a boy and revived him from a fire not too long ago.
My condolences to all of his brothers in the Fire Service and his family, especially his daughters. I know they know he left a lasting impression on the community and all who he came in contact with.
R.I.P - Captain James "Marty" Hall. You will never be forgotten.
