Engine 42 MVA Roll Over- Meade County, KY5 Firefighters Injured In Meade Co. Crash
Fire Truck Overturned Outside Of Brandenburg
BRANDENBURG, Ky. -- At least five firefighters are injured after their fire truck overturned in Meade County.
Dispatchers said the crash happened at about 6:20 p.m. Monday along Highway 448.
Battalion commanders said that Engine Company 42 was dispatched to a crash at 6:09 p.m. A person was said to be trapped inside a vehicle along Gaines Road near Highway 1638.
While trying to get to the crash, the driver of Engine 42 somehow lost control and the fire truck overturned, landing in a ditch along Highway 448.
There were five firefighters on board -- all volunteers -- officers said.
All five of the firefighters were flown to local hospitals via medical helicopters and were conscious during transport.
Other fire rescue units were able to make it to the original crash and rescue the person inside.
Units from the Payneville, Ekron, Flaherty and Muldraugh helped rescue the injured firefighters.
The identities and conditions of the firefighters have not been released.
WLKY News will have a live shot University Hospital at 11 p.m.
My friend's wife (and mother of 7) was one of the injured. Please pray for them as some of them are in critical condition.
