Seems hard to believe that ten years have passed since an amazing FF, Artie O'Leary of the Boston Fire Department (E21,L23,R-1,Tower Company,E-50,) left us. Never lacking for a laugh and a fireman's fireman.

Artie was the winner of Boston's highest award for heroism in 1991 for rescuing a firefighter who had collapsed at an apartment fire, and as further oddities would have it, passed away on the anniversary date of the Vendome Hotel tragedy. He was a member of the NYC Fire Patrol, 5 years with the Hartford, CT Fire Department and would have celebrated his 25th year with the Boston Fire Department in 1999. Not only was he a fantastic fireman, but he was an even bigger buff and supporter of firemen everywhere.
Edit: I apologize for posting this in the Line of Duty section - Artie did not die in the line of duty, but I wanted to remember him nevertheless.Last edited by CDean1262; 06-19-2009 at 10:35 AM.
