Hiring in Southern Illinois?

Does anyone know of any depts hiring South of Springfield? Thanks for any responses!!

Carbondale is testing in July, but after talking to someone in Human Resources, it doesn't sound like they will be hiring anyone soon. Belleville will be increasing their staff by 12 off of their current list (from the Chief) and will retest in late spring/early summer of 2010. Check with Edwardsville, they should be testing again soon, and a fellow FF just left STLFD to go to Woodriver. Granity City seems to hire often, and if you are a Medic, Collinsville would be a good shot. Oh, don't know if you are interested, but Decatur is currently takin apps.

To reiterate the above comment, I would focus on areas that are growing on the east side of St. Louis. I would test at Collinsville, Edwardsville, (both should be testing within the next year) and Belleville (no EMS!) and at Mt. Vernon ( I believe they tested last year). Most other departments are POC or have a small paid contingent. Let us know if there are any I left out!

I don't know of many that will actually be hiring though. in this economy I doubt many will be.

Collinsville's current list expires in March of 2010. There will be one definite retirement in June '10. Three or four more hit 30 years of service in 2011.

Yeah we tested in October so we won't until Oct 2010.
