    Default Winch mount

Anyone care to post some pics of a winch reciever on a engine. We are going to put some on a new engine but need some ideas of different places to have this reciever at, would like one on all 4 sides of engine with a 12 volt power supply. Thanks for the help.

I don't know how to post pictures ,but what we did was have a mounting point reciever fabricated & installed on all four sides of our truck. The warn 9000 lb winch resides in a box in the extended front bumper and can be placed where it's needed with the use of a simple hitch pin.
We put the recievers at waist height so it could be used over gaurd rails and it's much easier on the back than mounting down under the side rails. We have a flush mount 12 volt disconnect plug-in mounted beside each reciever. Make sure you use heavy enough gauge wire to carry the amperage load. I will send you some pics if you pm me your e-mail.

Your only limited by your imagination....and budget. THe above are all good Ideas, but no matter what you decide for placement, don't go cheep on the winch. I've seen a few departments get the cheeper winch and watched them burn the motors right out of them .

What are you planning on utilizing the winch for, and what manufacturer is the apparatus being made at? The reason I ask is that there are several variables that need to go into searching if this is viable for the apparatus or not, if it will allow you to do what you need it to do or not.

We have a four point system in place on our Rescue/Engine that E-One buildt in 2001. We had to have the rear of the vehicle beefed up to support the additional winch points to the sided which are located aft of the rear wheels. We also had to add lighting to that area so that we were able to see the area better during nitetime ops.

However, since we have had that done at an additional cost of about 5K, we have yet to utilize these extra points at an actual incident. In all cases so far we have utilized the front and back winch points, and that has only been for securing ropes.

We have not had the chance to use it for anything else during an incident as of yet, but we have done some small stuff during trainings.

Here's the four winch points on our Toyne Squad. The winch is carried in the standard bottle tube location after on of our guys lined it with plastic board.
