    Default 2009 Safer

So where is the 2009 SAFER app period going to start?

With the guidance rewrite and need for approvals, I wouldn't suspect until September. (Just a guess!)

FSC and SAFER Peer Review are supposed to be held at the same time. Guess that won't happen now, otherwise station grants won't hit their mark for 4th quarter funding.

While researching our 2008 grant, to see if we might get some money. I was told it would be August/September time frame before it would be released. It was partially dependent on how long it will take to finish 2008 grants. Apparently, numerous departments have until today to accept or decline an 2008 and then they will have to move down the list and find some more as grants are being turned down.

Well one way or another I am going to write up a grant for my department. We need volunteers and a way to retain them. So when it comes time for the application process to roll around I hope I'll be ready.

Would anyone out there be intersted in sending me some SAFER narratives for a small volunteer dept. of about 20 and a population of about 500? Anything you have applied for and been awarded for, for a dep of this size. We are looking for several ideas and not sure which way to go at this time. ANy assistance would be great.

None taken. That is actualy what we are allowed to have by the city, but we have about 15 right now. Not looking for much, just a little something to help reward them.
