    Default Scg

Has anyone submitted their SCG grant? Curious to see how many have been submitted with 10 days to go.

Not me, still got 8.5 days of work left on it to be complete before I send in.
    Gotta love being a procrastinator.

Our design-build proposals are due on Friday. Evaluating over the weekend and making presentation to company on Monday night.

I am interested to see how many applications they get. I am betting the number is going to be a lot lower than anyone expected. That will in turn get spun into people saying that no one really needs it and further the arguements to kill the entire program.

No, I am not a water rescue technician, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

    Angry SCG grant

I would of liked to but politics as usual rained out my attempts. Seems that all the administration at my station was interested in was a grant to get a new engine.

I had several ideas for the grant but without getting an approval to submit it, applying for this grant was DOA.

Out of curiosity, how does that compare to AFG 1 week before the closing? Sounds really low to me.

    Default Didn't apply

The additional requirements of the grant jumped our cost numbers from around 1M to about 2-2.5M. Def. a deal killer so now I am just waiting for FP grants. We have an old but not condemmed station.

The powers that be didn't want to build the "Taj Mahal", so we are not applying.

What are most of you finding it cost per square ft to build? Are most single story.

Single story, 12000 sf, pre-engineered steel building. Six bays, 12'x12' doors, 18' minimum height. Living quarters are probably around 3500 sf. Will be eligible for LEED certification.

Total for design & construction will be around $165 to $175 / sf.

That is with western PA prevailing wages which are probably average.

Any updates on app numbers, I am still betting total is going to be very low.

Email last week with DHS higher up said they're still under the impression that we'll hit 8000 apps. I don't see it but anything's possible. Might just be basing that off of app starts, and those are always a good hunk higher. Many just saw the online part and backed off from timing issues.

I am betting they don't get close to 2000. Might be wrong, but it would be good for me.

I was thinking 4000 just because I know a bunch of people just doing it to help keep the request totals up, and since one never knows who will really get funded or not. We told over 50 departments already to not bother hiring us because they didn't have some of the requirements even close to ready (like land), but still apply anyway to take a chance on getting funded. Can't win it if you ain't in it.
