I've been doing research on the firefighting units of the US Army during the Second World War. I am a reenactor and will be setting up a display of about what the firefighters did. It seems that many of them had experience in departments stateside before they signed up or were drafted. In that case, does anyone know of firefighting terms or phrases dating from or before the 1940's?
