Default Fdny Rescue 1 Air Chisel

I was at the firehouse the other day and the guys were watching a buffy video about Squad Companies. I noticed FDNY Rescue 1 keeps their air chisel and 12 hour bottle on an old Scott backframe to help transport it. Anyone hae any pics of this? Or does anyone have any other ideas for a cool preconnected air chisel kit? The Rescue guys in my house could use something like that and I thought I'd find out more for them. Thanks!

    Thumbs up A good idea

This is not a new idea, however a good one. Simply use an SCBA frame to bring all the air chisel gear with you. Fabricate a "pouch" or "holster" and attach it to the waist strap, using it to bring extra chisel bits plus the chisel itself with you. Works very well.

The same idea would work to inflate air bag systems. Simply bring the hoses and controller in a seperate "pouch".

Another option is to locate an old scuba tank backpack with manifolded tanks. This would bring addidtional air with you for extended ops.

Check out season 4 of FireEngineering.com's training minutes video series. A FDNY rescue co. member goes over air bag setups and shows the kind of system you are talking about.

We use a Can Man fire extinguisher bag and keep the regulator on, the airbag controller in the pouch, and the hose rolled up and pre connected. Grab that and throw it over your shoulder and grab the Ajax box or airbag box and go.
