Default Some pix from the PPP 2009 annual muster, Harrisburg, Pa.

The Pennsylvania Pump Primers (Central Pa. Chapter of SPAAMFAA) hold their annual muster and display at Riverfront Park in downtown Harrisburg, Pa. In my opinion this is one of the best annually-held musters anywhere in the United States. There are usually 50+ trucks at draft, and another 50 or so on static display. Here are a few selected shots.

Let's start with Yoe, Pa. (York County) 1951 F.W.D.

Rockville, Maryland's beautiful 1963 "B" Model Mack, and Harrisburg's newly refurbished/remounted Aerialscope (onto a Pierce XT Chassis.) Very nicely done refurbishment. (As seen from the bucket of Progress, Pa.'s 'Scope.)

Until last year I owned the 1950 model twin to that Yoe truck. Mine was originally from Seven Valleys in York County.

Did you get one of the back?

For the folks who haven't seen that truck, he has a figure standing at the back step in full period turnout gear including an all service mask.

Real nice pictures buff, with you seeing the Harrisburg Scope in person do you think that this type of re-chassis will give them 20 more years of service out of this truck ? Was it worth the $money! Years back our department had a 1943 Mack Quad open cab engine.

    My honest opinion? No.
    1. The boom system itself is 20 years old now.
    2. I don't think the Pierce chassis will last that long, with as much abuse as the HFD hands out to it's apparatus. Maybe if it were a volly company doing 300 runs a year. I give it a good 10 years or so.

If we did I don't remember either. I have never had any contact with anyone from Seven Valleys. I just wish I had the money to restore it and a place to keep it. It was/is a solid and complete rig with all the original ownwers manual and original title.

Nice pics buff, looks like the turn out was pretty good.

May have to remember this for next year, as the rigs in the pics, are rigs to drool over. Especially, the older ones.

Is there a place where I can drop "The FOAM", and so I can spend the day looking at fire trucks???

Lots to do in the area, but much of it is stuff you might want to do, too.

In the group of pics that contains the Madison picture there is a yellow truck on the right side of the walkway. Is that a roll up door on the back? It almost looks like a garage door!

What kind of truck is it?

I remember walking by it but I was looking for something else at the time, so I didn't pay enough attention to it.

The door looks like a roll up door similar to what is used on trucks and trailers, with the windows added.

    Hello All,

My father is a retired Baltimore County (MD) career firefighter and is still an active volunteer firefighter for Baltimore County (Station 22 - Middle River).

A friend of his asked my father if he wanted to drive one of the old fire engines he had and my dad said sure. My father asked me if I wanted to go. I am not a firefighter but have grown up with my dad being very involved in the Fire Department.

This was my dad's and myself first Muster and we had a great time!

Here are the pictures that I took:

More to come in the next post!
