Shoot, them aint bad odds anymore ... in Deltona FL it was 100 applicants for 1 (ONE) job.
Too bad because i am not really sure that im a 1 in 10 guy .. i could prolly beat out 5 guys for 1 spot or even 7 guys for one spot ..... but prolly not 9 guys.

We are processing the list. 116 has been cut to 110 due to lack of certifications. We are running DL checks now to ensure applicants meet our standard as well as considering other factors. Do to the high number, we are looking at doing a written test and sending the top "x" amount (perhaps about 30) on for some form of interview / further review.
The good news is that we extending the amount to hire from 10 to 15.
Good luck to those who have applied.
PS. We love the "POKE" County jokes. Be sure to throw some in during your interview.

I don't think anyone has been notified yet, unless they were cut due to not being FL FF & EMT. Other than that, no news is good news at this point.
UC, we should be able to keep 20 part-timers well fed. Chief Cash met with us today about some staffing plans that should keep all the part-timers busy.

Medics do have an edge up, but nothing is automatic. Most part-timers are scheduled to work for someone when they are off. This means a lot of the shifts are for 24 hours, but shorter spans do happen. Some assignments will be on a set schedule for a period of time. For example, right now we have some vacancies in the Driver Engineer positions. We fill them through ride-ups and assign a part-timer to replace the person riding up. These assignments can last for months, but are not as common as the other assignments.
The best people to talk to are current or recent part-timers. If you don't know any, send me an email and I'll put you in contact with some.

Will there actually be a testing process for these positions? I was pretty shocked last time to hear so quickly after the last "hiring process" that everyone had been hired from a group of over 100 applicants without anything even resembling a test or interview to narrow down the group...

My buddy Rob was EMT schooled but not a FL cert. EMT .... he got the phone call and was disqualified.I don't think anyone has been notified yet, unless they were cut due to not being FL FF & EMT.
EDIT: mlinkins, thanks for the info. Not to often do the Depts let us know who and what is going to happen next. It is appreciated.Last edited by owenscott; 08-30-2009 at 12:05 PM.

The tests are ordered. Our normal venue is booked, so we are looking for an alternate location. Personnel should be notifying candidates once we have a location and date determined. My quess would be as early as next week or at least the week after.
