I just got an email from an Assistant Chief at China Lake Naval Station saying I am being considored for a Firefighter GS-04 Temp 1 yr position. I am single so no family to worry about. I would be moving from VA probably with my girlfriend. I need to let him know in the next couple days if I am interested. Is there anyone on here that works there or knows people that work there. I am looking for information on pay for the GS-04 position, how people like working there, number of employees the FD has, if they run mutual aid at all and how the town of Ridegecrest is for living...any help that you all can provide is greatly appreciated.

If you can, try to contact the fire desk at China Lake and ask to speak to the firefighters on duty. I spoke with Chief Venezuala when i was inthe process and he gave me to one of the firefighters on shift. He gave me some good info, and some other info I did not know about. I unfortunatley turned downthe position because of the TEMP position... Hope this helps
