    Question Battalion?

What defines a battalion? Does 15FF 5 per sift, 1 manned station and 1 unmanned station fit that classification?

In firefighting terms, in general a battalion is a grouping of fire companies within a geographic region within that department, usually commanded by a Battalion Chief.

How many companies and firefighters make up a battalion will vary from department to department.

Size of a battalion in LA is defined under the civil service law.

I beleive it is a maximum of 4 stations.

    Typical in CA-

A Battalion could be anywhere from 4-10 stations.

A Division could hold 2-3 Battalions.

Orange County, CA Divisions and Battalions-

    Typical BC ride-

Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.

"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.

Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite.

Not that it matters, but that doesn't look like the same truck as the second picture, nor a late 90s Suburban.

He never said it's the same vehicle, which it isn't. Those are two different generation Suburbans - they're actually two generations apart. The B&W pic is a 1990's model. The second one is probably a 2002 model (give or take a year).

late 90s my *****. The crease in the body, the D post, and the headlights indicate this suburban is from 1981 to 1991.

The rims on the truck too. Buddy of mine had a 1990 3/4 ton Subruban just like this. (Minus the warning lights, etc.) She was an absolute tank.....

To be more exact, the headlights indicate it is a 1989-1991.

What defines a battalion??? Battlions are defined as men with many years on the job, they wear white shirts and do alot of pointing, gets to drive the cool command car, or if so lucky gets an aid to drive for them. These men usually love the job and are always shocked that the depts they love so much would hire people like us!! But as they think about the youth over the terrible coffee we just made, they are reminded of themselves!!

I know, I know this post is corny!!!
