I want to try and change my fire depts uniform policy regarding wearing t-shirts on duty and I would like some ideas on what other fire depts use. Here's what I'm looking for. Currently we're suppose to wear our button up shirts anytime we're in the eye of the public. I'm wanting to add something that will allow us to wear a dept approve t-shirt at night. I don't see the point of putting on a button up t-shirt in the middle of the night. The public doesn't care what we're wearing at 3am.. they just want us there as soon as possible.
Any help would be great.. thank you!

We're in a Class C or Polo from 0800 (Roll Call) until 1600, when we can wear dept. approved T-shirts

polo shirts at all times, with the exception of "heavy labor" (mowing, hose testing, hydrant testing or significant maintenance tasks) where we are allowed to wear t-shirts.
Button down shirts for public relations or public education functions, or in the case of myself and the paid Deputy Chief, meetings.
