CSU seems to be the best so far. I am looking into doing my general studies at a local school wher it might be cheaper.

CSU has the best marketing, but is not a regionally accredited academic institution. That means the work you do will not be accepted by more than half of other academic institutions, like the University of Maryland.

Make sure you look into every program you consider very closely. I've been looking myself, but it looks like I'm going to be getting my AA from a local community college that offers Fire Science. They're going to allow me credit for some of my certification work (Instructor II, Investigator, Inspector, Officer II, and some others) where others won't.

As I work toward my bachelors, I have no idea where I'm going to look, as no one local has a Fire Science, or any other fire-related degree for that matter.

Before you jump on this offer, think Deliverance

And, no, I have no room to talk, but I laughed just thinking about it.

Ya got a purty mouth there boy.....

I actually got to spend quite a bit of time down where that was filmed, back during flooding. Really good people down there on bad times. But I could see that a few years before it could have been reality....

I am using Capella University out of Minnesota for mine. I know they offer a degree in public safety and they have an ad on these pages. I don't know how good they are in fire science. I just know they are are one of a few schools recognized by NSA for IT Security. Its not an endorsement just one to look at. The enrollment process for me was very easy and simple.

The University of Maryland also has a fire science degree most I believe can be taken online. I've taken a few courses when finances allowed and I enjoyed each and every class.

Their are a couple of good programs:
    My alma mater...University of Cincinnati,
Also Eastern Kentucky University; University of Maryland; and University of Memphis. You can also check the National Fire Academy web site for a list of the schools that are part of the NFA Distance Learning program

As stated earlier...just because a program looks good doesn't mean it's accredited. Some of the schools are accredited through a distance learning agency, but NOT a regional accreditation agency like Southern States or Middle States. This is important if you want to go on for grad school, or use your education for a job. That accreditation is very important when using your degree for a federal job...they require you have a degree from an accredited insitution and you must present a copy of your diploma.

Take time to investigate the school and it's acceditation before you invest your money.
