Hey Guys,
I have started taking some fire fighter exams but find that most places require FF2 and Emt-b certs. Can you guys give me any ideas or good places you went for your certs? Would it be a hindrance if i went through the academy on my own?
Thanks

I'm from Algonquin in the Northwest Suburbs. I was going to go to Fire Academy in Elgin to get my FF certs and possibly take a Emt-b Class at MCC or Elgin CC on saturdays. I was hoping to do it all at once and try to get it over as soon as possible. Is that a bad idea? too much at once?
Also do you know of any depts in the area that accept volunteers?
Thanks!

Going to a community college is a good place to get your Basic cert. I got mine at College of DuPage. It really isn't that difficult of a class. Its basic patient moving, some basic anatomy and physiology, basic laws like abandonment and neglect, and obviously patient care. You could get away with it if you are a good student and you have a good instructor. It may be too late for this semester (Fall '09).

Thanks. I signed up for an EMT class. I keep calling all over the area for Firefighter 2 academies but everyone says that i need to be sponsored. Is there a way to get sponsored by a dept and go through the process by yourself. I just need someone to sign off on me so i can pay and go through the academy.
Thanks
