For those of you who deal with Hazmat incidents, Norfolk Southern, in conjunction with Transcaer and the chemical industry will be bringing their safety train to Bison Yard in Buffalo,NY. It will feature hands on training for those first responders who will benefit from it and/or have not had it before and there will also be seminars to discuss various topics related to the transportation of dangerous goods and dealing with incidents stemming from accidents with the transporting vehicles be they semitrucks or rail tank cars. The train will be in Bison Yard on September 22 and I highly recommend it. I plan on attending myself to learn what I can and gather information for my department's line officers and truck captains. I hope more of Western New York departments will attend this event. It will be time well spent.
