Default Change is coming, be patient

I got a preview today of the new layout of the firehouse.com website.

I don't want to mess up what they got going but I can tell you it will be much more user friendly, less "busy" with ads and stuff, and certain features that I think everyone will like a lot like a "My Firehouse" feature which lets you create a personalized homepage if you will, made up of what you add to it for an express route to what you want to look at. It will also have easier procedures for podcasts and webcasts too. They will also have easier navigation around the site and a new forum look to it. I think everyone will like what is coming.

Like George said before, this is NOT the same webteam. They understand this site is viewed and used by top industry leaders (yes, that means us) and they are making some very positive changes to make it even better.

Give them a chance, I bet you will like it.

I hope so. This website is too valuable to let a team get 'artsy' or 'uptown' with. I rely on this location.

I hope everything will be a smooth switch.

Seeing that cygnus has filed chapter 11 makes me wonder how long they will keep FH.

I vote to let Dennis Smith be the first one out the door and end his useless political bias column.

Firehouse.com values the active participation we have in our forums. Please ensure your posts are tasteful and tactful. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
I don't like the "don't post to a thread that's been inactive for more than 2 months" rule.

I wonder if a ton of threads were deleted .... that's how I realized the announcement had been updated, I read some guy's post about why was there only one thread showing in the Volunteer forum and sure enough, there's only 2 threads showing.

Oh, never mind - I just figured it out. The options have been set to "show threads for the last day". You can change that setting to see more threads.

Will be interesting to see what the future brings for FH.com.

I agree with Sheri. What is the point of having the threads veiwable if you cant post to them? What if something needs to be uodated? Not a very well thought out rule there, WT.

We're all going to have to watch our p's and q's (and f's too).

Thank God they didn't put spelling, grammar and punctuation on the list.

That right there is the biggest load of bullcrap I've ever read from the non-existent pretend "webteam". Why do they insist on pretending and lying to our faces as if we are all morons. Seriously, this isn't a matter of them just trying to sound official. They are flat out lying through their teeth.

I have to agree with George there. The last post that I reported (of only 2 or 3 total since I joined) was taken care of in less than 10 minutes: really really offending post removed and person banned.

I have even started to notice the user WebTeam actively monitoring threads during the last few weeks. Keep an eye on the "active users watching this thread" list at the bottom.

Its a coincidence. If there was a way for me to do a search on all the posts I've reported to them that they did nothing about (because they don't exist), you would fall out of your chair. And I don't mean reporting someone that I don't agree with. I mean stuff like porn, spam, degrading trolls, etc etc. They are a useless group of people/person/monkey that insults our intelligence by pretending they care and lying to us.

And I'm not saying this because I'm mad about being banned for a few days. I've been saying this for years.

When was the last time you reported something to them?

The new team has not been around for very long, but I have seen them a lot more active in that time. Click on their profile, used to be that the "Last Activity" showed 6 months ago. They were on here less than 6 hours ago. They have been making changes, and I agree that the old team sucked pretty bad. I used to not have much faith in the team. , but they really have been more active lately.
