    Default 50 yrs later the Kansas City Bleve..Memorial TODAY

    August 18, 1959..50 yrs ago in Kansas City,KS and MO. 5 Firemen killed many injured at scene.

    Watch the videos of one of the most dramatic fire scenes and explosions in early video recorded history. Often referred to be the first time "BLEVE" was used to describe an incident of this type.

    Thank you for posting this info. I did not know about this incident before. Their hard lessons are still being taught in classes today saving countless of civilian and firefighters lives.

    May they rest in peace and never be forgotten.

    Ok, I am an old guy. I remember this incident and have used the footage in safety classes. As a matter of fact NPFA had a 16 mm film, yes film, named "BLEVE" and I would think that most fire departments had a copy at one time or another.

    Itís still hard to fathom that some much destruction could occur as it did on that day!
