Status Update for AFG, FSC, FP&S & SAFER

With the level of frustration running high due to the lack of movement on various AFG grants; here is a current update/status on the various programs through AFG (info is from a reliable source). But, who knows this could all change by next week.

Fire Station Construction:

• All efforts are being concentrated on these grants.
• Congress/Obama Administration pushing hard to have funds awarded ASAP.
• 750 went to PR
• 150 top scorers were contacted for additional documents.

2008 AFG, SAFER & FP&S:

• Come after the station grants.
• All of the funds need to be awarded before the end of the fiscal year Sept. 30th

2009 FP&S:

• PG has been approved
• Application period September-October.

2009 SAFER:

• In the process of a re-write to reflect changes by Congress.

2009 AFG:

• Everything else is ahead of the 2009 AFG applications.
• 2500 still need PR
• PR scheduled Sept. 8-12th.
• Do not expect AFG awards until the end of the calender year.

Not too bad then if 750 got read, lot smaller in pricing on the top requests to get that many through over their expected 200-250 into Peer.

Wouldn't be surprised if we do see things rolling on Sep 8th, station grants are supposed to be announced and done by the end of this month. Also wouldn't be surprised if SAFER comes after FP&S with the rewrite, I'm sure there are all sorts of contention points from the stakeholders on the changes as far as what counts more, how to certify certain information, etc, etc.

Law was only written for a 2009 program, so like AFG expiring after 2010 Congress will have to pass another one. Health care is taking a front seat so stay on your representatives to keep it as close to #2 on their list as possible.

R&R comes under SAFER program. 2009 is seeing a rewrite of the rules to add more funding towards career depts being able to avoid layoffs and to rehire those already layed off. unknown at this time how long that will take .

If there is one round remaining for the 08 AFG, did all future awardees get a 1199 or will those go out soon? I got a DJ but understand that they come back and givr out excess funds. Thanks

If you get the chance, would love to know if out of the 150 that they contacted have any been eliminated? Got to belive that we are close to the top of the list now, just wonder if I should keep praying!

Just an FYI. Less than 1000 '09 AFG to be peered 9/8 - 9/12. That is a fact.

800 to be in the range, that's how many 2008s got read during 2009 AFG Peer which bumped their counts to cause this one.

So far all FSC initial contacts are still in the game to the best of my knowledge. Might be a handful come out after these are done with but wouldn't bet the farm on that happening.

Rumor has it that 1199A's will be out Tuesday Sept 8th. Time will tell, but what is going on with FSC grants etc. I'm not betting on it happening.
