Personally I would go with Florida State Fire College in Ocala. Might try http://www.fireacademy.org/ if Ocala is to far.

your most local bet would be www.ridgefireacademy.com
I took hydraulics and pump there recently and I thought they had a great set up, at least compared to the crap hillsborough community college had when I went through. they're at a new facility now though so it's probably a lot nicer.
if you want to check out HCC (and I don't recommend them for several reasons, but if they have classes sooner or something, it's an option) they're at http://www.hccfl.edu/7986.aspx

Don't even get me started on these idiots. I call to see when the next class is starting last October. Leave message on voice-mail. Never got a call back ... I call back in a couple of weeks, still in October, to get an answer. I figure they have open registration, because its a college, prolly in December.Daytona State College(formally Daytona Beach Community College)
I finally get someone on the phone .... "oh the next class starts in January and is full. We started accepting applications this month and now were full."
"Oh sorry to bother you (i'm upset but this lady is nice enough so i make sure i do not show any disappointment on the phone) i didn't see it anywhere on the website or i wouldn't have called"
Then she says its a very popular program so we don't advertise it ???
...... WHAT ??????
I can't believe how stupid that is. I guess if you wanna go, you can't just check the site for updates. You must call every single day, get some live person on the phone because they don't return messages, and bother them because its "a popular program" and so the college doesn't tell you when to apply .... ?
Daytona would have been closer to my home by about 1/2 hour but its OK. I am a PROUD graduate of Lake Tech in Tavares. (i highly doubt DB could have been any better)

owen, sorry to hear about your issues with daytona. i took standards there over two years ago and fortunately did not have issues with registering. i must say that it is commendable of you to keep with it and go to lake tech. i have heard they have a great facility there and i hope to take classes there in the future.
