The International Association of Dive Rescue Specialists (IADRS.org) is hosting the
2009 International Public Safety Diver Conference
in Charlotte, NC beginning on September 22.
Participants from as far away as Ghana, Africa are attending. You should too!
Conference Rates:
IADRS Member Rate: $350/Per Person
Non-Member Rate: $395/Per Person
3rd Person: $150/Per Person
All Conference rates include lunch tickets for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Attendees staying at the host hotel will also receive a complimentary continental breakfast each day.
The IADRS conference this year will be slightly different from prior years since it includes "hands on training." At the pool site participants can demo dry suits, full face masks, underwater communication systems, surface supplied air systems, etc. General session lectures will include noted authors Steven Barsky (Diving in High Risk Environments) and Steven Orusa (Dive Rescue Specialist - Operational Training for Public Safety Divers). Blades Robinson will speak on lessons learned from PSD fatalities since 1960 and Dr. Richard Sadler will speak about increasing diver safety through situational awareness, referencing the tragedy aboard the USCG Cutter Healey.

UPDATE / 2009 IADRS Public Safety Diver Conference
TO: All 2009 IADRS Conference Attendees
We look forward to seeing you all in Charlotte, NC soon and wanted to provide each of you with updated information.
The latest conference itinerary can be found online at: http://www.iadrs.org/media/Itinerary.pdf
This year will be different from other conferences since we are conducting “hands on training.” One of the venues consist of pool demonstrations and we are asking ALL participants to bring a swim suit and consider department issued coveralls or other comfortable wear for the lakeside demonstrations.
IF you have room in your carry on bag or checked luggage, please pack a conventional face mask that fits you well and, if room allows, fins that can be worn over dry suit boots.
We are excited that teams from 19 states, Canada, the Netherlands and Ghana (Africa) are attending this year. More registrations are being received each day and we are looking forward to one of the best conferences ever.
Please travel safe and contact the IADRS if you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Blades Robinson, Executive Director
