If you are going to be the grammar police, learn how to spell.

Like you would know anything about academic integrity. Reference your poor grammar in the first sentence.

What good thing? The administration played the right wing like a Stradivarius (that's a violin so you don't have to look it up) and made them goofier than they do already.

Again, this makes no sense. However, this administration is playing no one. The Senate and House are pulling it around like a puppet on a string. Which explains the lack of direction.

They played all those people who claimed Obama was going to indoctrinate their children into socialism. They all look foolish as a result. Many of the screaming heads on Fox Jazeera were comparing Obama's speech to school kids to the actions of the North Korean government.

Like I said. Played like a Strad.

How can anyone be in favor of our President telling kids to stay in school and take responsibility?! How dare he not brief every parent on the subject matter of speech, considering every teachers does? It's clearly a ploy to further his agenda... Excuse my sarcasm, but anyone who thinks Obama had a hidden agenda need to get a life.

As he said in the Presidential debates,"That is above my paygrade".
Well, telling children what to do is above his.The job of keeping kids in school is a parental job,not a Presidential one.Unless he was speaking specifically to his own daughters,I don't see how he should even think he can make sure kids that aren't his do their homework. That is WAY above his paygrade, isn't it?
I do see how a parent could be telling their kids"Do your homework or I'm calling the President.Do you want me to do that?Do you?" but I don't think it would cause much fear in the kiddies.
I would be interested in seeing a follow up in a year or so to show how much effect this speech has had on the youth of this country.
From my remarks, you might guess that I think it was a waste of time. The kids who didn't want to see the speech or whose parents didn't want them to see it had to stay in class doing busywork while the rest of the kids got out of class.
Does that mean that the kids who stayed in class moved a day ahead of their peers in schoolwork?
I don't think its something he had to do, but something he chose to do, I've no judgement on his motivations. Kind of goes with " Is he a leader?" This would be something a leader should do. I'm old enough to have watched JFK make his famous speech " Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" We'll never know how " Camelot" would have turned out, probably less than historians and democrats would like everyone to believe, but that speech did mean a great deal to many people, including a lot outside of the USA.
In regards to Pres Obama being a 1 term President, if the Republicans and the Democrats don't quit being so immature and childish, he may surpass Castros longevity.

No one has a problem with him telling kids to work hard and stay in school. What people were concerned with, and rightfully so, was that the President of the United States would try to influence the minds of young impressionable children. That is not the right forum for pushing ones ideology or political views.

If a one time 15 minute speech by the President influences your children more than you, their parent, influence them......you should not have children.

Good point. I just don't think the schools are a place to push a political agenda. Which Thankfully Obama got right. See that, he doesn't always screw up.

Even though he wasn't the original speaker of those words,I think that he and Gen Omar Bradley would be upset at how those words and plans have been twisted by the Democrats from words to the effect of "give to your country and don't take from her" to "Gimme mine".
