You can travel home, your R&R doesnít start until your first full day in the US.

BUT you are only allowed 35 days in the US out of your tax year to remain tax exempt. A Partial day spent in another country going to the US counts as a day, AND the same goes for traveling back. For example:

-Flight leaves Dubai at 2130 on September 1st, September 1st counts as a day toward your 35 allowed in the US.

-Flight leaves the US and arrives in Dubai at 1300 on the 10th, the 10th counts toward your 35 allowed in the US.

I always recommend an expat CPA. One a lot of us working over here use is http://palazzocpa.com/

Or as explained on the IRS web page:

    330 Full Days
Generally, to meet the physical presence test, you must be physically present in a foreign country or countries for at least 330 full days during the 12-month period. You can count days you spent abroad for any reason. You do not have to be in a foreign country only for employment purposes. You can be on vacation time.

You do not meet the physical presence test if illness, family problems, a vacation, or your employer's orders cause you to be present for less than the required amount of time.

    Full Day
A full day is a period of 24 consecutive hours, beginning at midnight. You must spend each of the 330 full days in a foreign country. When you leave the United States to go directly to a foreign country or when you return directly to the United States from a foreign country, the time you spend on or over international waters does not count toward the 330-day total.

    Example:
You leave the United States for France by air on June 10. You arrive in France at 9:00 a.m. on June 11. Your first full day in France is June 12.

Do NOT go to work for this company!!!!! I am here now and am just trying to finsh a year! The company is going under! Chief Ty, Tony Collins, and Uden are all curently under chu arrest for stealing money from the goverment! When they go to the DFAC to eat, they have to be escorted by MP's, this company has only a couple months left period! And they are termanating 70 FF positions within the month.

In my personal opinion WSI is not going anywhere. Do they have some poor management? YES, Do they do some jacked up $hit, YES. Who is going to take over the bases? Nobody... the Government is trying to save money. WSI has the best price.

We are all here to make CASH, so if you get the chance to come and make Cash, I say do it. It does get ****ty at times. You will do some dumb drills...messed up paperwork. But in the end the money is usually worth it and if it isnít... QUIT. Itís that easy.

I am not sure about the insurance, but you are offered more life insurance by an outside company at Houston. Maybe some of the guys that just went through can answer that question better than me.

    Edit:
KBR is harder to get picked up with. They usually stay with who they know. If you donít know somebody it is harder to get with them then WSI.

WSI will hire anybody with a pulse. Or a nice rack.

The bases are very secure. However, you canít always stop stuff from being shot into the base.

    Default Picking up bases...closing others

Lots of change here at old WSI. We are picking up some bases from KBR but the Military is looking at closing a bunch of others. That translates into transfers, lack of hours and some terminations....or failure to recontact. However the money is much better than you can do stateside, and I have yet to have a check not clear. There is allot of trash talk about this company, some warranted some not. All I can say is they have always done right by me. I will be here as long as they will have me.
