Anyone get a Sumter interview?

I did mine today ..... they were only taking the top 12 to interview and hiring 6 ..... even tho i got an interview it doesn't mean i got a job ... no call yet.

.....keep trying .. it was my first oral board after being turned down by a few other depts. I'm gonna keep trying also.

I'm not real upset. I can't pay my mortgage on a 40 hour schedule. The PAT was a breeze and I thought I did okay on the written. I was just hoping to get an interview for the experience.
Job offers were supposed to be today. Good luck! Lake County interviews are next week.

Yep that is what i was thinking ...... more applications .... here i come ....

Well 12 of us were interviewed. I spoke to another guy, who was interviewed same time in Sumter, he called and asked his name be withdrawn from consideration ... that means he didn't get a call either.

So maybe calls haven't gone out yet.

I talked to that guy today. I saw him at another interview.
Physicals are Wednesday. Job offers were last Friday. I am willing to bet most of those positions were filled with volunteers/part timers.

That's been happening at most depts. lately.. Makes me wonder why they even open a hiring when they already know who's getting the job...

Because County/City policy requires them to do it. If you were a part timer or volunteer for that department, you would feel somewhat entitled to a job there too.

Not if I wasn't the most qualified.. I would feel motivated to do what I could to become the most qualified.. But that's what separates a lot of people and unfortunately entitlement is what separates a lot of the most qualified candidates from getting jobs....

For many years I have watched people with less experience and qualifications get badges instead of me. It means nothing.

I talked to a POC guy that i knew at the written test. He said they only had like 4 of their guys taking the test. I saw him and the blond girl that worked there ... maybe they just found 6 that they liked more than us ??

There were more than a dozen of them.
