New Haven CT mess?

Does anyone here know if there is a thread on firehouse about the New Haven CT test that was thrown out because is supposedly "discriminated against black people". From news forums i understand it was an IQ Test. I am just wanting to read everyone's opinions on the mess and would like to see what was on the test. And I would like to know how an IQ test can be discriminatory.

Yes the "Search" Feature works well if you know exact title, posters or etc. But when needing to search for a topic without exacts it is more like searching with Google. The link you posted brings up the "Sorry" message.

It's discriminatory because if you're stupid, then you won't do well on it and likely ruin your chances of getting hired.

Well that is pretty much my opinion and the opinion off a black friend of mine that brought this to my attention.

His opinion is by throwing out the test it is saying that black people need a test dumbed down for them. For posting sake I will call my friend John. John is a PHD and MD and this offended him seriously. He is also of the opinion that if they cannot pass the given test then they should not be promoted. I cannot see anything that would be racist on an IQ test. Yes, I have taken an IQ test. If there is something then it is not an IQ Test (what they were saying the firefighter's test was). No I do not recall anything that would be racist. One of the News Forums I was reading stated an example of the word oil. The poster said that because southern blacks pronounce the word as "all" they would not know that oil is a lubricant not "all". I think this is B***S**T. My wife pronounces it "all" and still spells it oil.

Oh well, this is my rant for the day!!
