I have been wanting to look into contract fire fighting in Iraq. I am currently a Paramedic firefighter with Advanced Haz-Mat Tech, Air craft FF, Confined Space rescue operations and several other certs. I have been a firefighter for 6 years now, and on a Hazardous materials team for 3. What are my chances of landing a position, and would finishing my fire officer classes help at all? Any insight would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you and stay safe!

Make sure all of your certs are Pro Board, IFSAC or DOD or no company will take them.

If you have all your 1's... Officer, instructor, inspector. they can make you an LT.
2's for Captain. blah, blah...
I would knock out what you need to be an LT and then try it. But they are losing positions.. so you may want to start the process.

Just read some of the past posts on WSI and take it with a grain of salt. If you take the plunge, and do this...
Please go into it only expecting a big paycheck and getting a lifetime experience. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT go into it expecting it to run like a normal stateside Fire Dpartment. It is nothing like it.
I for one, actually had a good time both years that I was there. I got a few classes knocked out, I had scary moments on the two out of three base where I was at, and I also ran into some of the guys from my old unit ( made it feel like home...somewhat )
Also please keep in the back of your mind that this is a combat area, and you and the miss's need to understand that. While I was there, we lost three firefighters. One to a medical issuse and two to hostel actions- R.I.P.
Anyway, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
