Posted about that on Tuesday. They're doing an upgrade, easier to avoid issues with it shut off to keep data from getting crossed.

Thank you again Brian. I must have missed the posting. My Senator called yesterday. I wasn't here, but will let you know what happens.

of course it is...just when I was hoping to squeeze 30 more days out of the process. Great, now I have more work to do.

Can't wait to get to the station and get our '08 closed out. Been waiting months to get it done (POP ends 12/10). Tried to get it done early, but they refused to open it up on the grounds that you could not make a qualitative statement about it (we were using the AED's for 4-5 months already).
But in retrospect, just a disguise for what they were truely up to....shutting it down for upgrades.

    Cool not as they said

My POP ended in August. Was about 3 days away from finishing the final closeout and they put that 'hold' on. Now I have to gear back up again and double check my work. When I communicated with the helpdesk after the 30days had gone past, they said they would send an email advising the closeout portal would be opened.

I checked and the portal is back. There was no email except for the ACORN notice. (Not sure I could take another dhs.helpdesk email and keep my heart from jumping outa its case anyway.)

A few people have already told me it still doesn't work for them. And word seems to be that the portal for DHS to enter and check isn't up yet so even if you can submit it, they won't see it or be able to do anything with it.... Hence the wait for the email statement.

Do you really send communications back and forth to AFG everyday?

Not every day. Nothing says I let everything loose at one time in each communication either. Hence the reason people keep telling me things. On top of the fact that they know I'll share the info for the betterment of the program and the applications.

It's still listed for my '08 grant. In most circumstances the Closeout Grant will not appear until 1 month prior to the end of the POP.

    Cool

Be carefull. I never got an email on my last closeout. I called help desk and they said that it was a courtsey to send out emails.

Pay attention and don't loose out on future grants with a closeout pending.

I received an email that said an email would come from them when the portal reopened. Well, the portal reopened on my '08 and still waiting for that notification. I must admit at times there are some aspects here with the grants that concern me. I don't want to be told everythings alright. I want to be convinced everything is alright.

    Thanks Mark.

    Default Glitches In Closeout Report

Spent most of the day trying to complete our Closeout Report. There is a new financial form from what we used in the past. This puts them on par with the rest of the federal government. They are still having a glitch in the system especially in regard to "Cash Receipts" or draw downs (money from the feds). It seems that figure is may not accurate for multiple draw downs. In our case only reflected 1 of 3, throwing off the whole report. They expect to have it taken care of by Dec. 21st.

After multiple phone calls; the people to contact for questions about the form will be your Grant Mgt. Specialist located on your award letter.

If you are not sure or need a phone # call 1-866-927-5646 Option 3. They will provide you the info and transfer you.

    Smile Closeout today

After thinking about Mark 'Morgan Citys' post above and my reply immediately following, I went ahead and sent AFG an email about noticing my closeout portal returning but not receiving an email notification that it's status had returned. I also asked if I used the portal, would it accept my information?

AFG replied that they didn't get the chance to notify everybody of its availability.

That I could go ahead and continue with my closeout.

I have been looking at this form and it is confusing to me? Can you help me understand what they want? I would rather ask here first and then call.

    Questions??
Recipient Account number - Is this my direct deposit bank acct # or my EMW-2008 #?

    Federal Cash:
Cash disbursements - Is this the same as my total federal share?

    Federal Expenditures and Unobligated Balance:
Federal Share of unliquidated obligations - What is this? $0

Anyone else struggling with this form?

Account number is your bank account.

Federal Cash, correct on that one with being the fed share.

If you had no money leftover at all then it will be 0 in the unliquidated obligations.
