Anyone out there having issues with keeping assigned crews together in the day to day operations? We are having issue with moving people around to fill in at other stations and the company officer complaining of not having his personnel to evaluate. The moves are mainly to cover for vacation time and kelly days. We run our quint companies with 5 assigned and four minimum. One engine and one quint have three assigned with three minimum. We can make it work on the other stations with allowing one person off of those companies but the three man companies don't have any extra. Needing some input from others on how you address this issue.

These are SOP numbers on the minimum manning levels. We have a part time force that is available to supplement the on duty crews but it has limits.

Ok, well then what exactly is your complaint? If FD Admin is violating the terms of the SOP and or bargained agreement, file a grievance.

Gizmo why does one quint get five but you said another only gets three?
Are the CO complaints because they can't evaluate newer personnel? it sounds like the CO's should get together and whenever a move comes up get together with whichever company they FF came from and discuss how the person that was moved did.

The quint with three and the rescue engine with three are housed in the same station. The goal is to get additional firefighters on those trucks but the budget won't support it and we have not been successful with the grant.
