Due to my absence recently, I'll host the next event. I'll break out the smoker and grill, who's bringing the fish?

I've got about 40-45 Walleye steaks I'm sure we could put a dent into. Not sure how many sides/filets of Rainbow Trout, but they can be grilled up to. Nobody is touching my Salmon.

It is a shame that folk have to behave like this.

Vancouver is beginning to emerge from the chaos and destruction that followed the Canucks' loss on Wednesday, when rioters burned more than a dozen cars, looted stores and initiated countless violent confrontations.

The riots that involved thousands of people are believed to have resulted in millions of dollars in immediate costs, and possibly billions in long-term damage to the city's reputation.

More than 100 people were arrest in the melee after the Stanley Cup final, which resulted in a 4-0 win for the Boston Bruins.

Most of those arrested by the Vancouver Police Department were detained for breaching the peace or public intoxication, and were released within 24 hours.

As of Thursday just eight remained in custody on more serious charges such as break and enter, theft, mischief and assault with a weapon.

However, hundreds of people who were on the scene took photos and videos of the activities, and uploaded them to social media sites aimed at gathering evidence for investigators.

As a result, said CTV's legal analyst Steven Skurka, the number of those charged is almost certain to grow.

"In the next several weeks I would think we'll see that list of 100 people multiplied to several hundred," Skurka told CTV's Canada AM on Friday.

Niamh Scallan, a reporter with The Province newspaper, was covering the riots on Wednesday night, and said she was "shocked" by the destruction and violence.

"It was total devastation. There were garbage cans, dumpsters lit on fire, 15 cars were lit on fire including two police cars that I personally saw," she said.

However, Scallan said the response by city residents wanting to help repair the damage has been equally surprising.

By late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, groups had already formed on Facebook and other social media sites with the express purpose of rallying residents to help clean up the streets on Thursday.

The initiative seemed to take root among residents who were angry at the way their city was being portrayed, she said.

"Thousands and thousands of people were downtown helping," Scallan told Canada AM, adding that volunteers were working alongside business owners and city crews.

"It kind of restored my faith in the city to be honest. ...It does make me feel like our community is back on the mend."

Volunteers helped sweep broken glass and collect garbage as part of an effort that included removing the hazardous hulks of burned-out cars and replacing smashed windows.

After touring the scene on Thursday, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson said rioters don't define the city, and its true representatives are the citizens who volunteered their time to help clean up.

Robertson also promised a full review of what took place, and how authorities responded, to ensure it never happens again.

Both Robertson and B.C. Premier Christy Clark said the incident wouldn't stop the city from holding future large-scale events.
