You're one of only a few I've ever known to call the NC side of the Smoky Mountains 'Blue Ridge', instead of The Appalachians. I wonder if it's an "East vs. West" of the mountains thing? I miss my Smokies but I'm looking forward to getting to know the West side of the Canadian Rockies in the not-too-distant future.

The Blue Ridge is part of the Appalachians. You really can't tell the difference.

I know they're all part of the same mountain chain, it's just that I'm used to the VA section being call Blue Ridge and the TN/NC/SC being called The Smokies.

And I am home. My new home. Or I will be when we get transferred to Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Home is where the heart is, right?

In Virginia, we call them the Blue Ridge up around the I-81 area. West of there over to WVA we call them the Appalachians. In 10-Us-See we call them the Smokeys, as well in North Carolina.

I know you are home now, but you will always have a home back here. Never forget your roots or childhood.

Home is where the heart is and the heart is right at home too!!

Well, since I'm an Alumni of Western Carolina Univ. and ex-football player. I refuse to refer to my area of the mountains as the Appalachians. (App State Univ., just to the north of me, is our biggest rivalry. Every fall we have the "Battle for The Old Mountain Jug") That being said, The Appalachian Mountains do run from the top Of GA, through Jackson Co. and up to NY. Jackson Co. sits right smack in the middle between the Smoky Mountain Parkway to the west and the Blue Ridge Park Way to the east. So you could refer to our area with either of the three terms and you would be correct. As it stands right now, no matter what you call it its fracking hot.

Could I please have an order to go? That sure beats the tar out of the left over pizza I had for lunch and supper.
