    Default Closeout

Just found a closeout response submitted just prior to the section being closed. A 2008 FO successfully closed.

I did not know if you all saw this or not from the application page.

"Due to required system programming, the closeout module for all grants will be offline effective September 30, 2009. The module will be offline for an undetermined amount of time; however it is expected that the module will be available by the end of December 2009."

Last time I remember looking at it, it said that it would be back up the beginning of November.

That has changed in the last hour or so. When I checked my app around 09:00 CST it still said the last of October.

That's what is says. I am still waiting to closeout from last year.

December is optimistic, probably more like January with the holidays in the middle. They are not going to hold 2009 awards for anyone with an open 2008 because of this mess. 2007s and prior they will hold the 2009s if the closeouts were not done. Older than that they may just bypass and send a "thanks but you forgot something" DJ. And then you'd better get it done before 2010 AFG...

    Red face

2008 Ohio AFG recipients were notified earlier this week by our Regional Specialist of the following:
"It is hoped to have the Closeout Report module up and running by the third week of December. There is a new mandatory government form that is being added to the report, which is causing the delay. If the report is not working by the 3rd week of Decmber, it will be postponed until January."

Our specialist further suggested having all your invoices, receipts etc. ready to enter by the third week of Dec.

    Patience was requested for everyone.

I'm leaning towards believing that January at the earliest. The helpdesk said they would send out emails notifying those when the portal is up.

Send some warm weather MorganCity Mark. Good to hear from you.

I bet the form has something to do with how many jobs your project saved or created...

My grant writing spouse won our FD an award in 03 and never heard from AFG if close out is or was done. Never got a phone call or email.

Better log in and check, closeouts are the responsibility of the applicants. DHS has no obligation to keep on top of anyone to make sure they're submitted or fixed. Emails may not come to the personal email on those, they'd come to the app Mail Center. And status of the closeout is on the closeout page. As long as there's a date completed then you're good to go. Otherwise I'd be all over them to make sure it gets done. They'll DJ any new awards without reason since it's been so long.
