Tim Hortons opens coffee and doughnut shop at military base near Fort Knox

    By The Canadian Press

TORONTO - Tim Hortons Inc. (TSX:THI) is setting up shop near Fort Knox, home to U.S. government's main gold storehouse.

The king of Canada's coffee and doughnut industry says the new 24-hour Tim Hortons in Kentucky will be its first on the grounds of a U.S. military facility.

It's also another location the company can add to the growing roster of its restaurants operating near popular tourist destinations in the United States.

Fort Knox is a tourism hot spot because of its fame as home to one of the world's largest deposits of gold bars and other bullion.

Tim Hortons has recently been growing its presence aggressively in these types of locations, opening several stores in New York City last summer.

The Ontario-based company has about 500 stores in the United States and about 3,500 locations in total, mostly in Canada.

The company's U.S. chief operations officer says he hopes the latest deal will be the first of a growing relationship with the U.S. army and air force services.

Tim Hortons already has stores on seven Canadian military bases {including Base Borden!} and also in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

    Post And............

ANY Place is better than Yuppiebucks. Period. I missed my shot at getting a Cup of Tim's Finest back in August. We spent several days in Plattsburgh, NY, at a Bassmasters Fishing Tournament. We looked at a side trip into Canada (Montreal is only 60 miles away) but with no Passports it would have been a huge hassle......

I prefer my caffeine in inverse proportion to the ambient temperature. When I DO drink coffee, polar bears are griping about the cold.Folks in Chicago are wanting the heat turned up.
At times like that,I just load up the coffee maker and let water drip through grounds into a pot,add milk and enough sugar to give you cavities just reading this and enjoy.
None of that "grande mocha latte with a cinnamony swirl and a peppermint stick I'll have whatever she tells me to drink" stuff for this hairy backed he-man!
