Colorado. I haven't bought a ticket yet. I'm on the fence. I scored a 97 on FDNY's last test but that translated into a list number of 4400 because of no preference points. I'm worried the same will happen again.

I hear ya man, I doubt this test will have the trun out FDNY does though. Im sure it will be atleast 1,000 or so, but thats better odds than the FDNY!! Plus if you dont make a attempt your chances will be zero...

The city's website states that they received 2,360 approved applicants for the upcoming process.

Weird that so many people would pay $25 to apply and not show up

The way I see it is, it's their loss and betters my chances to get on the dept. I want. The city made like $56,000 off of application fees. Im sure that covered the mentor sessions and the cost to rent the exhibit halls at the River Centre.

Its going to be a long few weeks to see what we scored on the written!!

That and does anyone know if we get a simple Pass/Fail or do they include your score in the results?

I think she did say 1600, but she mentioned a ballroom somewhere that I guess more people were in.

We should get an actual score, 75 is passing.

Last time around, everyone that passed the written and physical tests got a letter showing how many people participated in each phase.

If I remember right when I took the test in '05 for St. Paul it took about 3 weeks and we received our actual scores, not just a Pass/Fail. The first letters that go out are for the people who didn't pass, so at this point I'd be hoping not to get a letter.

1,952 applicants took the written exam on March 8, 2010. Candidates will receive their score in the mail within 4 weeks from the date of the exam.

"I strongly believe that you must score at least a combined score of 95 to have a chance."

I took a station tour some time ago before the exam on 3/8. One of the firefighters helping out with the tour told a group of us that SPFD did not hire anyone on the 2005 list that scored below 95%.

Overall. There was a collective groan when we heard that stat. But, I'm glad I caught it because it emphasized the importance of studying for the written. I think I should have had my wife hide my PS2, though.

So far, the powers that be haven't bastardized the test to the point of an individual putting the effort required, can't help themselves greatly in the process.
It will be the physical agility test that will separate those that worked from those that just look at this as a job. I highly recommend you do what it takes to get the 100 points on it. You would greatly improve your chances if you are able to complete it under 3 minutes. Which is very possible.
    Good Luck!

That was a different test though, you couldn't really study for this last one.
