Default Apartment Fire in Edmond, Oklahoma

Not my department, but very close to our neck of the woods. We were able to watch the flames from our station.

The apartment were under construction, no units were occupied. The construction workers were accounted for, so after a little while they went defensive and tried to minimize flying embers from starting grass fires. The wind was gusting at 25+.

So if it was so close that you could see it from your station, how did you guys not make it? Seems it was clearly big enough.

Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.

"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.

Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite.

We were asking ourselves the same question .

I honestly don't know. It sounded like they were having problems with getting more pressure from the hydrants, so maybe they were thinking that more trucks wouldn't really be able to spray any more water. Who knows.
