This has happened to other makes as well. You name the brand and they have been in the same situation!
If I was going to post a photo of a department whose ride is burning, upside down and in another type of mishap, I think I would have blanked over the department name and city. No sense in embarrassing the fine members of that department. Just in bad taste in my opinion! K

Bou.. excrement occurs. I'm sure tht if one digs deep enough, one could find a pic or two of your beloved Crown FireCoach apparatus ablaze.

Someone forget that the "Smoking Lamp" was not "lit"?
You sailor types will know the reference.
In any case, yep it happens to the best of us, sometimes. Unfortuantely. If you don't do it RIGHT today, when will you have time to do it over? (Hall of Fame basketball player/coach John Wooden)

Grow up and stop whining. Not even your problem.
E-One makes some very good trucks to my observation.

Electrical
Everyone is entitled to their opionion. Everyone's got one. I think most manufactuers have had some problems of this type.
Quite frankly, most of our electrical problems have been self induced.
Drilling into harnesses, connecting where we shouldn't have while mounting radios, computers, flashlite and radio chargers. I suspect that it's not uncommon.
After I look at the picture again, is that smoke or steam coming off a heater or radiator hose?Last edited by donethat; 10-21-2009 at 02:27 PM.

its not fair to make fun of E-One for electrical problems, Crown Fire Coach didn't even live to see the day of heavy electronic use in fire apparatus.

Comming from someone who rides an E-One every third day at work, as well as the days in between with the volly department, I will say that our E-Ones have less problems than the Pierces bought AFTER the E-Ones. We have three more E-One engines on order.
Every manufacterer has problems. None of them are perfect. For the product received for the money paid, E-One is not a bad truck. That MIGHT be why they are still in business.

I don't think it is fair to single E-One out. I know of a Seagrave that burnt up, a Pierce, a Spartan, an American LaFrance, A Darley, and an E-One. But I have to admit that picture is pretty good.

Support your local recycling center and buy e-ones!
Everyone should just lighten up a bit...
.I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

For the record, our 2006 Smeal pumper seems to have more glitches and gremlins than our 1994 E-One Hush did. So, when we bid a new pumper last year, a lot of us had our hopes on a Pierce. Smeal was low bid once again.
With that said, I can find you departments that love Smeal, Pierce & E-One and I can find you departments that hate Smeal, Pierce & E-One. These things are like the Ford & Chevy debate -- there is no winner.
Of course, any picture of a fire truck on fire is funny... I can appreciate irony.

"Fire" Apparatus
Fire apparatus do sometimes end up on fire. I was a member of a FD that had a pumper catch fire around 20 years ago. After that fire, there was a mandate that each rig had to have fire extinguishers on them.
An area FD near here had one of their new pumpers burn up when the fuel line came off and ignited the fuel. Nice, newer pumper became toast.
Just remember fire stations burn, too.

Actually in Southern California, some Crowns did have MDTs, radio chargers, flashlight chargers, gel cells and trickle chargers.
Those Crowns were built so heavy duty, they stood up pretty good and never heard of one burning up. Nameless, I am willing to bet you know little to nothing about Crowns as you're just jumping on the bandwagon here.
This Crown had all of the above and still rock solid..
