Rescue Tool Tech as a P/T job?
Been talking with a couple of guys about being a service tech for them as a part time gig. was wondering if anyone on here is, what are the best companies to work for (NOT who's tools are best)? Could I be a service tech for more than one manufacturer or will they make me sign some kind of no compete clause?
It seemed pretty straight forward from the regional rep. I already have my own tools and a trailer. They get me a demo/loaner set of tools, i work under a dealer's insurance policy as a sub contractor, and get my service training from the manufacturer.
I charge labor, mileage, parts, etc. and just give the dealer a small cut. (15%-ish of my labor charge)
Not really looking to do much if any sales, just work on the tools doing preventative maintenance & repairs.
is it REALLY that cut & dry?
Thanks in advance!
