DoD apps - what happens next?

Thank you all for all the information you have been giving us over these past few months. To recap - My husband is an Army FF at Fort Rucker. We are getting out of the Army and hoping to go DoD. We are willing to go about anywhere to get in the system. He has been applying to many departments that have had opening recently. We had an app come back with a status of being sent for consideration. If he were to get a job offer from this would it come in the form of an email or a call? Will the status change again if they hire someone else?

Well most cases you should get a phone call and they will ask you if you want the job or not. I have seen it take a month or two just to do the interview and the phone call to ask if you want the job. The whole process depends on how slow the system is.

cdaf - We are actually interested in both possabilities. DoD has some advantages because we know we would have good healthcare and we need really good coverage for some chronic illnesses in our family and also due to his retirement being able to be counted towards DoD.

some cities will let you buy credits towards retirement for military service, like the feds do. unless it has changed does help a little

the public side used to be light years ahead of dod firefighting, do not know if that is still true, but with the feds more than likely true.

also a little more action and depending on the dept, a lot more room for advancement
