Changes are happening again. First impressions are that the new forums look smooth, but it seems to me like it is loading a heck of a lot slower. Maybe it's just the computers at work...
They also changed it to firehouse.com/forums instead of forums.firehouse.com. Now I will have to go around and change all my bookmarks.
Oh well, welcome to progress...

I agree. Slower than dog ***** running uphill in February.
Additionally, the EMS forums are still seperate after over a year. You log in seperately, then post seperately, then have to reload firehouse forums if you wish to continue viewing the Firehouse stuff. It's 2009, one would expect it to be melded together."Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like." Will Rogers

First it wouldn't let me log in using email address. Tried with user name and it worked.
Keep getting IE can't be displayed error message, usually whatever I'm trying to do works on the 2nd try.
All the emoticons are showing red x's
So far, not a fan.

Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.
"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.
Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite.

What better way to drive the regulars away!
1. Slow @ss servers making other life's pursuits and projects possible.
2. Forums HIDDEN overall in some pulldown menu. It took me two minutes to find it, and thanks to the aforementioned servers, another three to navigate to it, complete with page reloads and timeouts.
Looks slick, but isn't.

*Christ! And forget it it if you want to try to go back in and EDIT your post. FOUR TIMES it came back with "Oops. Looks like this link is broken."Last edited by ffbam24; 11-02-2009 at 10:58 AM.

It was really slow the fist time in...but when I came back later, it loaded really quickly...and I didn't have to change my bookmarks. No complaints so far.

No problems with speed.
It did take a while to find the forums... at first I thought they removed them all together.
.I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

I take it back.
It is slow, but they state they are still working on it.
So, i'm a patient person. I'll wait another 30 minutes and then start whining.

Speed?? Whazzat? Certainly its not a word that can be used to describe the "mobility" of these forum pages. The speed of dark perhaps, but not much more than that.

It was slow or totally broken all morning. I've trying to get this thread to open since 8:15am. As usual, the user information pages in the CP and other settings sections are bamboozled to no end. No surprise though, none of that has worked properly since I was in high school surfing this forum in the computer lab in the late 90's.
As I said in another recent forum related thread, fixing or improving things on this forum is a lost hopeless cause. The FH.com staff do not care, never have, and there is no reason to believe they ever will. People have offered to help for free and they're turned down or completely ignored.
So basically, this is what we have and we're gonna have to live with it and enjoy what we have here because it won't be changing much.Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

Fellas... There will be plenty of time to moan and complain later. Let's have some perspective. This is a huge switch for them and so it's easy to understand why the switch is slow for them. I doubt that they upgraded just so it would look "slick." They'd been running the old software for quite a while. It was probably time for a change.

So far I hate this. It seems like another example of change for change's sake.
And YES, it is slower than a snail going uphill against the wind in a blinding snow storm.“The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live.” Leo F. Buscaglia

Slow earlier, but it's faster than the old site now. For me, anyway...
