A little off subject, but my department is getting a block of funding that must be used toward RIT Equipment. I have looked at the NFPA site, and at several other sites and cannot find a list of suggested equipment. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot remember all that we have, but it fills a stokes basket.
I would add:
Irons (dedicated to RIT only)
TNT
Hammer (22 oz)
Elec Chain Saw or Cordless Saws All
Life Safety Rope

Two air bottles with quick fill connect and face pieces, a tarp to place all equipment out while on sceen, a bag that says RIT, defently tnt tool- get the shorter one because the longer one does not fit in the bag, rope, gut belt, save a jake, multi tool like what channel lock came out with, flashlights, carabiners's.

Derrick--only got a minute or i'd look deeper...but it think that there are a few lists posted in the Rapid Intervention forum here at Firehouse. Seems like we found a few 2 or 3 years ago that we used as a basis for filling our Stokes basket for RIT.

Have you tried the new NFPA 1407? It has some recommendations but it leaves it up to the local AHJ. For those that are reading this will surely correct me if I'm wrong.

Appreciate the info, please keep it coming. We have the RIT bag, with connections for the scba, rope, and each person has a personal rope kit as well. TIC, dedicated as well, with a k-12, and an irons kit. I will look at the 1407 standard as well. Thanks

NFPA 1407 has got some good info, but look at the USFA Publication entitled "Rapid Intervention Teams and How to Avoid Needing Them", TR-123. If you google "USFA Rapid Intervention Team documents" you will find it. It's got some great info in it, as well as some very "borrowable" wording from a very credible source for future Fire Grant requests.

May also want to look at a firefighter locator system.
