    Default Pacific Contracts

I know Chugach has most of the Pacific. Was just wondering if anyone has been to Kwajm Shemya, Wake, ir Midway. How is the pay, living conditions, work schedule? I am thinking about maybe applying for one. Any info would be great. Thanks.

No other spots are available, Kwaj is it. Wake is being given out to Taiwanese or something. Best of luck!

Keep an eye out on Chugach website for openings. They open for the other places and fill up quickly.

Chugach has one opening for Midway. This position needs to be filled ASAP. Must have a passport. Go to chugach-ak.com to apply.

    Good luck.

I applied to the posting. Not expecting a call though I applied fr a fire job on Shemya few months back never heard anything. What is the pay like? Schedule? How often do you get to go home?

I know applying through the web site that you have to meet certain criteria posted in order for your resume/ application to be forwarded on. So, hopefully this explains on one possibility of not being called. Keep in mind these positions are infrequent and sought after. Luck might play a part in everything too.

As far as pay - it is very well.

Off island time - varies but most take 3-4 weeks off every 6 months. Our charter flights originate in Honolulu and that is where you fly back to. From there you would go where ever you choose on vacation.

    Living quarters are nice.

    Overall it is not bad.

    Good luck.

I meet the fire requirments they seek. My certs are:
    FF 2
    ARFF
    Hazmat Ops/Technician
    CPR
    Driver/Operator ARFF/Pumper/MWS
    Rescue Tech 1
    Telecommunicator 1
    Space Shuttle Rescue
I WAS an EMT-B but it expired. 4 years fire experience overrall.

Like you said though its just plain luck alot of times. Midway sounds like a nice job from what you say. It must be cool working on an island with a history like Midway.
