    Answer to why wet mirrors and windshields freeze. Also why you don't use windshield washer fluid if your windshield is very cold.

    Wet surfaces, when exposed to wind with the dewpoint below freezing, will drop in temperature and approach the dew point temperature. See sling psychrometer at http://www.nasa.gov/centers/langley/...es-Ch11.r3.pdf
    This device uses the very same principle to determine relative humidity. Say you have a wet mirror at 33 degrees, but the dewpoint is minus 26, then the water on the mirror will evaporate cooling the mirror below 32 degrees
