    Default Help Finding an Article

Hey everyone, I am looking for an article I saw a few years back about wearing full PPE at care fires. It showed a firefighter's turnout gear and SCBA with chunks of plastic/metal enbedded in it from an explosion at a car fire. This will be a great example and tool to use at my fire dept for wearing full PPE when fighting a vehicle fire. If anyone can help me find it, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Dave.

I recall an incident a few years ago of a FF (in CA ?) taking the rod of a hood strut through his bunkers and leg.

Search FFclose calls (I don't have their web site at hand), they may have something.

i don't know the article you were referring to. but if you go to thesecretlist.com there are plenty of pictures of guys not wearing gear at car fires and stories of why you should.

I found a few old threads that might help you .... I think I know which incident you're talking about.

    http://www.firehouse.com/forums/show...ight=car+bleve (Car fires)

Gas filled struts in bumpers, hoods and hatches that can violently explode when exposed to fire...Do not allow suppression personnel to position themselves directly in line with these mechanisms.
This thread starts out promising but then gets sidetracked onto booster lines, but I think there are enough posts about gas struts for you go get a start on a deeper search.

    Search criteria I used:

    Car Bleve
    Gas Struts PPE
