Found mine yesterday morning at 7:00 am. For a new tanker! Replacing a very worn 1968! I found the 2009 award number in my 1199a from a award in 2004. Question I have is that they didn't email me and the banking account information needs changed on it, how can I achieve this?

1199a Question

When you are contacted in regards to your potential award (either via e-mail or telephone) explain to the Specialist that your 1199A form will need to be changed.
They can release it for you for changes, you will resubmit electronically, and then have to get it to your financial institution to be signed and mailed back to D.C.
Nothing you need to do right now.

Forgot that they started accepting by fax last year. Either one will work.

So what are the odds now, this is our first 1199a, last year we got the DJ last round. How rare is it to get the 1199a and NOT get awarded? I had to call and tell everybody, and I keep telling them this sin't garunteed yet and they keep asking hwat our chances are now, so far I just tell'em better than they were yesterday

Well NW Missouri Osborn. If you have had an 1199a show up on your status portal. It is as we say around here, you may start planning the party, just don't send out the invitations yet.
I would say your chances are,,,, 99% that you will be awarded. Just keep double checking yourself and if you feel you want to talk to AFG helpdesk, call them. They will help you through it. They don't want you to make any mistakes. Be patient, if the 10 questions get done you may have to wait a couple months or longer for your award to be official. Then you get to print of a nice official color copy of the award from FEMA to hang in your local Post Office window.
(Quit laughing. That's what I did! LOL)

We got our 1199a this morning. Just wondering, now that we have got this what happens next. This was the second time i have filled out the grant, got a dj midway through the awards last year. We applied for 10 air packs and a R.I.T. pack this year

thanks, one more question, We have our 3 quotes already we were told to adjust up 10% on our overall total for inflation. If we are rewarded the grant will we have a chance to adjust the price down to the total of the quote before the funds are issued? I do not want to end up with a bunch of extra money.

Actually this is a good question. I think there are several options. Since I do not know what all is going to be awarded, I would first forget your previous quotes. Those were to get you an idea of how much to ask for in the application and the 10% extra is to cover increases in product pricings. Good strategy With 31 weeks gone by since the application period closed, good chance you may encounter some increases.
Once you get your 10 questions accepted, then you can begin to think about what vendors you want to send bid requests to. Whatever they return make sure you keep copies of for your grant management binder. (Binder, get it?) I learned to ask for grant management funds to help cover the expenses now. Printer ink, paper, extra shipping, etc.
I got to look at a grant guru's management binder system at one of Kurts seminars. Got rid of my accordian file I was so proud of.
This is the time you make the vendors work to get your buisness. Those that were considerate enough to give you quotes for the application deserve to get a change to bid now is the reasonable procedure. That is for the future consideration of all of us.
Collect your bids and you will know where you are then and what to do. And what is wrong with a little excess funds? Frankly I would like to have excess funds under $5,000 and get AFG's approval for expanding my project or covering any surprise expenses that sneak in. And they do sneak in. Remember AFG does not like to take back money. They want you to spend it within what your grant project is trying to accomplish.
Remember the lowest price is not always the best route to go either. There can be other factors to consider that will be to your advantage. Just keep a log of why you chose what you chose and did what you did.

2009 AFG Vehicle question
When I wrote our grant for a tanker, I put 2500 gallon in the narrative. I have found since then that we can get a 3000 gallon for same price. Will fema allow us to upgrade to the 3000 or are we bound by the narrative.
Thanks.Last edited by firemechanic1; 12-19-2009 at 10:08 PM. Reason: salutation

Since you don't have an award YET, that means you haven't gone out to bid yet per the AFG guidelines! capice!!!
When you do get the official award notice and then go out to bid you can then place a call to the grant specialist handling your file and inquire if this would be approved.
The odds are that they will approve the increase in water capacity, BUT before you place the order get it approved in writing from the Grant specialist that will be you point of contact.
