    Default Christmas Eve fire

    Had a structure fire today.
The guys made a quick stop to a kitchen fire that could have turned into an all day deal. No one was hurt but 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 birds died.

This makes the 3rd year in a row we have had a structure fire within 3 days of Christmas. 3 years ago it was 2 days before Christmas, last year was Christmas Day, and now this year it is Christmas Eve. I'm beginning to think its a bad time of year to live in Altoona!!!

Our neighbors, Township Fire Department helped us with it. They all made a great stop which kept it from going into the attic. I have to toot my own here and say that I am very proud of these guys and the officers who ran the call. The Lt. on the video was IC and another Lt. was operations.

As I said in another post....please BE SAFE if you are on duty or on call this Christmas.

Not a thing wrong with praising the crew for a tough job. It is part of what we must do.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas sir.

    Post Yep!............

    Happens Everywhere.........

Prince Georges County had a 3 Alarm Fire this afternoon, a Garden style Apartment Building, that brought out 12 Engines, 7 Ladder/Tower companies, 2 Heavy Rescues, and some misc. Support units, with 87 People........ It was on the other side of the County from me, so I wasn't involved with it. If I get a link to a News Story, I'll post it.......

There is a fire burning right now in my town. Went out to walk the dog and you could smell it. I looked up and there is a HUGE steam cloud drifitng east. If it were not for more gifts to wrap, i would go find out the deal.

Hopefully it's not someones home. Hopefully just another vacant building.

Geez, that's a big deal. Seems like on this holiday someone someplace gets busy, unfortunately.
