My group is on duty this evening... it's 28 degrees, the forecast is for snow showers, a chance of freezing drizzle...

The Prime Rib dinner is in the oven... hopefully the citizens will behave and it will be a quiet night!

Gonz, here's hoping for a quiet tour. One of the best meals I have had in my 19 years was also one New Year's Eve, also prime rib.

Thanks Gonz! If it wasn't for a taxi driver with a pulseless women in his back seat I'd have slept through the ball drop. Turns out he can't take a pulse, and she was too intoxicated to refuse transport so she took the woo woo bus to the ER. Engine made it back just in time! Happy New Year!

I missed the ball drop too.. Full response, Engines 1 and 2, Rescue 1, Ladder 2, Car 2 for a fire alarm activation, Box 344, 397 Bolton Street, building B, caused by cigar smoke.

That was the last incident of 2009... incident # 09-5344. I got back to the station at 0003 hours.

The Deuce (Engine 2, Station 2) got the first run of 2010... a medical for a woman with difficulty breathing.

Every year you guys do! But I look at it as a gift. I see Dick Clark (and now that cabin boy Ryan Seacrest) count the ball down. Naturally in the stupor that I'm in I forget about the time difference and stumble off to bed, waking up early the next morning, without the splitting headache and bloodshot eyes. So, a big thanks to you for living 3 hours away. Happy New Year.
