"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

00h30: trashbin fire
00h34: House fire
The trashbin burned out, the house fire was actually a big camp fire behind a farm.
So nothing special actually.

No fires as of 0000hrs. Few medic calls, but nothing serious. However the PD had a real good time last night :-). They brought in the New Year with a stabbing, 1 or 2 chases, few fight calls, and it seemed like 100 shots fired calls. After hearing all of the gunfire last night in my neighborhood I feel like I need to get some bigger firepower.

Police chase of stolen vehicle ends in fatal crash
Sarah Platt FOX 6 Reporter
January 1, 2010
WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE - One person is dead and another injured after a police chase ends in crash in Milwaukee. Police say they noticed a vehicle peel out of a gas station parking lot near 27th and Burleigh around 2:30 Friday morning. A patrol unit followed the car, ran the plates and learned it was a stolen vehicle.
The officers tried to catch up to the stolen vehicle, but just two blocks from the gas station, the car crashed into another vehicle.
No other information is available at this time.

This was actually the second run of 2010 for my truck company, but it was more notable than the smoke condition just prior.

Still waiting... we don't run medicals.
I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

Nothing as of yet. Seems to be a lot of calls going out around the area today, so its probably only a matter of time before the pager goes off for us.
Last call of 09 was an ems lift assist. We got cancelled as wegot on scene.

As of 2055 no fires. Plenty of medic calls and several MVC’s. I’m hoping we don’t get anything tonight or tomorrow because I’m stuck at dispatch. However PD has not stopped. You would think that people would calm down around the holidays but the last 4 days has been non-stop.
update: we did just get a call for smell of gas in a house.Last edited by KevinFFVFD; 01-01-2010 at 10:02 PM.
