Default One thing I see missing from the 2009 recap articles

While everyone is writing articles reflecting on what happened in 2009 and its effect on the fire service one major speech is missing. Lt. McCormack's speech has apparently been wiped from the internet and it appears many wish to wipe it from our memories.

Its my understanding that Lt. McCormack has faced a lot of flak and hassle from FDNY for his speech. So here's to you Lt. you had the balls to get up and say what many were thinking and took a good amount of heat for it, thanks for your courage. You get my vote for most influential speech/video of 2009.

The "powers that be" may have silenced Ray McCormack... but his words will be remembered by tens of thousands of firefighters who were there and saw it on the internet.
‎"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."
    Lt. Ray McCormack, FDNY

You are correct, agree or disagree with Lt. McCormack's speech it was a 2009 wavemaker and I think that it should be included in any fire service year in review article.

I am at work right now, but yes I have it saved on my home PC.

Funny how some out there are trying to make it "disappear". We wouldn't want to teach firefighters how to learn, want to learn and actually want to learn by going to fires.

It is a shame what some are making us.

Amateurs practice until they get it right; professionals practice until they cannot get it wrong. Which one are you?

'The fire went out and nobody got hurt' is a poor excuse for a fireground critique.

Not at all. I will try and see if I can condense it down to a .zip file and email it out. I am not the quickest and brightest on computers but will see what I can do. If not I have a few spare CD's that I can try and burn it too.

    .
If I might ask, not start start an argument but to hopefully stir up an interesting discussion, why do you disagree?
