OREM --A 26-year-old Orem woman died Monday and her husband remains hospitalized in intensive care after a stabbing in Orem.
The woman has been identified as Laticia Aguirre. Her husband's name is not yet being released.
Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute just after 11:30 a.m. Monday near 500 East and Sage Circle. They found the couple with stab wounds, according to a police news release. The couple were taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical in Provo.
Orem police Sgt. Craig Martinez said it is hard to tell yet whether the couple will survive. The wife remained in surgery Monday evening, while the husband was unresponsive in serious condition. Their names have not been released. Police are still not sure what happened and hope to learn more once they are able to talk to the couple.
The couple live in a home with another married couple, and one of their roommates was home Monday afternoon. Martinez said the man did not witness the stabbing, but heard arguing.
"He just heard arguing and just left," Martinez said.
The man then called his wife, who called police. Police say they believe the incident was a domestic dispute and are not looking for any other suspects, while potential witnesses are being interviewed.
One knife was found at the scene, and there was no initial evidence of self-inflicted stab wounds on either person
